Our back deck is in full swing this summer and lately, we’ve been pairing sparkling rosé wine with so many of our meals. Everywhere I look, I am seeing rosé wine being promoted as the “it” wine of the season. Just this month, Real Simple Magazine featured an excellent article about rosé wines. Specifically, Chris Morocco wrote, “when it comes to choosing the best drink for almost any summer night (and menu), think pink.” (Check out the full article here.)
At our house, I tend to think pink a lot, particularly when dressing the twins!! Even my jeweler has been trying to convince me that rose gold is a hot trend, recently showing me a stunning pair of inside out rose gold diamond hoops. They were gorgeous! (hint, hint, wink, wink, Frank) Seriously though, why not go pink this summer?? If you are stuck in your red and white wine ways, pop a bottle of sparkling rosé and kick off your summer in style! Here are some of my picks and pairings…
Priced at just under $25.00, Mumm Napa is my favorite brut rosé. It has received 90 points from Wine Spectator and a gold metal from the American Fine Wine Competition in 2012. It is also gorgeous in the glass, bubbling with vibrant salmon hues. My other preferred rosé is Moet & Chandon Rosé Imperial. It, too, has a lovely pink bubbling hue, but it’s flavor is much more fruity, the combination of three grape varietals: Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay.
On this particular evening, I paired these rosés with grilled pesto sea scallops and shrimp, grilled split chicken breasts with a citrus marinade, Greek rice, and grilled veggies (all to be posted in the near future). It was a great night with wonderful friends!
