5 minute Hummus Mediterranean Baby

I never usually make generalizations, but EVERYONE can make hummus!!

It is so simple and quick and gets better and more rich in flavor as it rests in your refrigerator. If you are trying to shed a few pounds, it also makes for the perfect snack with red peppers or whole wheat crackers. It’s also great as a condiment in a veggie or turkey wrap. Overall, if you’re getting in gear for summer, this is the perfect recipe to make on Sunday and have all week for snacking. The best part is that it can be made in 5 minutes and can easily be customized to become your favorite go-to hummus recipe, adding just the right amount of garlic or lemon juice to fit your tastebuds…I tend to go heavy on both. It will take you longer to find hummus at the grocery store than to just make it yourself!

5 Minute Hummus


  • 2 cans garbanzo beans, drained and rinced
  • 3 tbsp. lemon juice (fresh is preferred)
  • 2 heaping tbsp. chopped garlic
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • olive oil


Place garbanzo beans, garlic, lemon juice, and a pinch or two of salt and pepper.

Pulse the food processor to be sure the ingredients are ready to blend.

Blend ingredients and begin to steadily drizzle olive oil into the top of the food processor at the same time. Continue to drizzle olive oil until you reach your desired consistency. I love my hummus smooth and creamy so I add olive oil and continue to blend until it's almost fluffy.

Taste and add salt, pepper, or lemon juice if necessary.

Serve with veggies, pita chips, or crackers.
